“This is, undoubtedly, one of the best ensembles in the world; a fabulous string quartet”, was written in Los Angeles Times after one of Henschel Quartet performances broadcast live by the BBC. The joint voyage of four excellent musicians started in 1994, and already the following year they were receiving numerous prestigious international awards and were having successful debuts in world’s music capitals. The Quartet’s work has been marked by a number of extraordinary events such as the performance at the opening ceremony of Anna-Amalia Library in Weimar (listed on the UNESCO’s list of World Cultural Heritage), restored after the 2004 catastrophic fire; a trip to Brussels as the cultural ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany; the 2010 performance in Vatican in audience with pope Benedict 16th; performance in the Madrid Royal Palace with four Stradivari instruments from the royal collection, and so on. After all those excitements, the Quartet finally reached the Croatian audience in 2015, when they performed at the 66th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, where they were awarded the Orlando Award by the Croatian Radio-Television. Henschel Quartet appears in front of the Zadar audience for the first time and for this occasion they have prepared a concert programme that will include plentiful musical experiences – from sweet tenderness to sudden eruptions of passion.
