The Rimsky-Korsakov piano quintet gathered on multiple occasions, but for the Zadar-based audience and this concert they have taken the name of one of the greatest Russian composers, Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov, a member of the so-called The Mighty Handful or The Russian Five. The ensemble comprises the pianist Ivan Batoš, an artistic associate at the Zagreb Music Academy, Milena Lipovšek, a solo flutist of the Slovenian Radio-Television Symphony Orchestra, Ognjen Popović, a solo clarinettist of the Belgrade Philharmonic, Nenad Janković, a solo bassoonist of the same ensemble, and Boštjan Lipovšek, a solo hornist of the Slovenian Radio-Television Symphony Orchestra. The central part of the ensemble’s programme is a work by the eponymous composer, the magnificent Quintet in B major for piano, flute, clarinet, bassoon and horn; in addition, the programme also includes the masterly works of Gioacchino Rossini, C.
